In the 70s, shoes designed by Terry de Havilland sold for about £15. Since then they've fetched up to £800 at auction.
Terry de Havilland's relaunch coincides with the apparent resurgence of retro/vintage fashion and many celebrity guests sported this fashion in Oscar this year. There is a reason behind it.
Relaunch and re-wear of this style proves that you are emotionally attached to it.
What a beautiful way to show your attachment. Don't you agree?
You have full rights to register a complaint if the following problems occur in the early stages of wear…
- loss of trims and decorations
- failure of buckles and/or other fasteners
- failure of stitching seams
- wrinkling and collapsing of toe puffs
- cracking of soles
- failure of sole adhesion
- failure of heels
- failure of shanks
In all the cases stated above, you can freely get your shoes replaced. After all, all the above mentioned reasons are the manufacturer's fault.
At times you register unjustified complaints with shoe shops in order to get your shoes changed. Wanna know which kind of complaints are unjustified. Here is a list.
- The shoe not being water resistant, when water resistance was not listed as a feature.
- The shoe not fitting well, after wearing it for a weak.
- Change of mind after the shoes have been worn outdoors.
- Scuffed or scratched shoes.
- Deliberately damaged shoes.
- Shoes not used for their intended purpose.
So, the next time before you register any complaint give a quick look at the list. It might save you from embarrassment.
If you are pregnant then this is something of your interest.
Yes it's true that the shoe size can change during pregnancy. For some women, the change can be temporary and for some it can be permanent.
The simple reason behind this change in shoe size is the weight gain and change in hormones. Excess weight on your foot may flatten the arch, which leads to a change in the shoe size.
All I can say is never force your feet into tight fitting shoes during pregnancy.
I feel that properly fitted shoes will help make your pregnancy more pleasant. The next time you purchase shoes during your pregnancy, please be careful!
Yesterday, I was talking to a friend who works as a footwear designer with a major sports house. He told me a few amusing things about his profession. What particularly interested me was the problems that he and his colleagues face with designing Javelin shoes. This is what he said:
In the sporting world, fitness comes at a premium. As a result, sports shoe designers often have a difficult job to put up with. The bio-mechanics involved are simply too tiring. We have to constantly redesign the shoes based on the deficiencies in the prevalent style.
The javelin shoes in current practice are found to exert a lot of pressure on the feet and legs of athletes. So a stronger and longer-lasting material is often used to overcome this. But because of the pressure on the feet and legs, some additional support becomes crucial. Hence, it becomes necessary to have a shoe with a different design.
This new shoe will usually look more like a boot, with protection around the ankle. Extra strapping around the foot will also be sometimes provided to minimize the movement of the foot within the shoe. I am sure this new design would be very comfortable for javelin throwers.
And I always thought that designing shoes was a piece of cake! Were you thinking the same thing?
Of late, I have been noticing that the kickers are back into fashion. Many reputed footwear manufacturers have now started producing kickers. With newer designs and attractive packaging, kickers look like the future of shoes and footwear industry.
Let me tell you about the original kicker rage generated in the early 80s. That was the time when everyone, from all age-groups, was wearing Kickers shoes. These chunky, colorful shoes from Belgium caused chaos in shoe shops in 1980. The manufacturers had a tough time meeting the soaring demands.
These shoes used to have little flower-shaped leather logo attached to the laces. The more of the logos you had on your shoes, the cooler you looked, this was the general perception.
So what is your choice?
Medicinal cloth shoes appear once again in market! Don't be surprised it's true.
People have started showing interest in medicinal cloth shoes once again, inspiring to begin production of these shoes incorporating better quality.
The recent surge in the demand for these medicinal cloth shoes can be attributed to the awareness regarding their health in people all over the world.
I feel that these shoes are worth giving a try!
If you aspire to become a high-jumper,then you must be careful about your shoes. You could never probably imagine how much goes into designing and preparing a typical high-jump shoe.
The high jump shoe has a thicker sole compared to normal shoes so as to give you maximum support and comfort in this physically challenging process.
It is light and flexible so that the jumper may speed over a short distance before the jump. The front spikes also help you gain speed in the run-up. The four spikes in the heel provide the necessary grip when you take-off.
Now you realize how many calculations work while designing that perfect shoe to fit your requirements and your feet!
Imagine! What if there were bomb proof shoes that our soldiers could wear at war front? Great..no? So, just step out of your imagination and take note of the fact.
You will be surprised to learn that an Essex shoe company has developed a bombproof boot. The footwear, from Hi-tech in Rochford, is used by Herts police who tested the boot by strapping a stun grenade to it. The testings proved so successful that now the police force is contemplating over placing orders for its armed response units.
Wow! Even after a blast, your feet will last! Great!
You may be amused to know that American women have, off late, fallen for a very unusual sort of fetish - that for shoes. Sales of women's footwear are growing at rates not seen in years, with women buying multiple pairs of shoes in a single outing.
U.S. footwear sales at department stores totaled $42 billion in 2005, a 9 percent increase over the prior year, according to the NPD Group, marketing and sales information specialists.
Shoes fell into a slump a decade ago when they became too predictable. I believe it was so because everywhere there were the same colors and the same styles. This could not induce the people to buy additional pairs of shoes.
It was then that the shoemakers began injecting their designs with more panache. They introduced new textures, beadings and woven leather in their footwear. This was helped by the speedy production technologies and changing consumer tastes.
So if you are a businessman intent on launching your own range of products, you now know what to do to achieve grand profits. Just add a bit of that elusive thing called variety.
